ProvenanceMade in 1858 for the Edwin Vanantwerp house at 53 Washington Street, Newark. Descended in that family to the donors. VanAntwerp, a wealthy harness maker, furnished his entire Italianate house in John Jelliff & Co. furniture. Original receipts show it cost $3568 in total.Exhibition History"Insecta Fantasia: A Centennial Commission by Jennifer Angus", Newark Museum, Newark, New Jersey (November 2, 2008 - June 14, 2009).
